Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?
An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential, employer-sponsored workplace service designed to help employees navigate personal and professional challenges that may be affecting their mental health, wellbeing, or job performance.
Instead of waiting for an employee to experience a severe crisis or burnout, an EAP provides immediate, proactive support through professional counseling and advisory services.
Is the Program completely confidential?
Yes, absolute confidentiality is the foundation of our program. No personal details, session notes, or identifying information are ever shared with your employer. The only exception is if there is an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, which is a standard legal requirement for all psychological services in Australia.
Will my employer or manager know I am attending counselling?
No. While your employer pays for the program service, they do not receive information about who is using it. Employers only receive high-level, de-identified data (such as the total number of sessions used across the whole company) to manage the program’s administration.
Do I have to pay for the counselling sessions?
No, the program sessions are fully funded by your employer. There are no out-of-pocket costs or Medicare claims required for the allocated number of sessions provided in your organisation’s specific package.
Can my immediate family members use the services?
In many cases, yes. Many corporate packages extend coverage to immediate family members. We recommend checking your company’s specific policy or contacting our reception team to confirm if your family members are eligible for funded sessions.
What kinds of issues can I discuss in a session?
You can discuss both work-related and personal challenges. Employees frequently use our program for stress management, burnout, conflict resolution, relationship issues, anxiety, grief, and navigating major life transitions. You do not need to be experiencing a workplace crisis to benefit from this counselling program.
Do I need a referral from HR or my manager to book an appointment?
Not at all. You can reach out to our clinic directly to schedule your first visit. There is no need to notify your manager, human resources department, or anyone else at your company. The booking process is entirely self-directed, ensuring you can seek support on your own terms and in complete privacy.
How are the counselling sessions delivered?
We offer highly flexible options to suit your schedule, lifestyle, and comfort level. You can choose to attend sessions face-to-face at our Frankston clinic, or opt for secure telehealth appointments via video or phone. This ensures that you can easily access professional support whether you are working from the office, working remotely at home, or traveling.
