Krista van Lunenburg
Qualified Counsellor
ACA Level 2 Registered Counsellor
Location: Queanbeyan, NSW & Telehealth.
Specialises in Anxiety, Stress & Life Transitions
Krista is a qualified counsellor who offers a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental approach to counselling. She works collaboratively with clients to help them better understand what they are experiencing, recognise patterns that may be affecting their wellbeing and develop practical ways to move forward.
Krista supports people experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss as well as relationship difficulties, trauma, workplace stress and periods of significant change.
Working from a person-centred approach, Krista believes that each person is the expert in their own life, even if life’s challenges sometimes make it difficult to recognise that. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, she takes the time to understand each client’s individual experiences, challenges and goals, tailoring her counselling approach to suit their needs.
Having spent many years working in corporate environments before becoming a
counsellor, she also brings a strong understanding of interpersonal workplace dynamics, workplace pressures and the challenges of balancing personal and professional life.
For Krista, one of the most rewarding parts of counselling is helping people to reconnect with their strengths, better understand themselves and find a way forward that feels right for them. Her focus is on creating a comfortable, supportive space where clients can share their stories openly and work towards meaningful change at their own pace.
A little more about Krista…
Outside the counselling room, Krista is a lifelong ABBA fan. As a child, she would pretend
to be Agnetha (the blonde one!) and regularly treat her family to enthusiastic performances
of ABBA classics. Whether her family appreciated the concerts remains a mystery, but her
love of singing along to those catchy tunes hasn’t changed!
At home, Krista shares her space with Missy, a rather grumpy 13-year-old cat, and Buddy,
a mischievous kitten who seems determined to get into absolutely everything. Krista
suspects Missy’s, grumpiness might have something to do with suddenly having a little
brother she never asked for!
On her days off, you’ll often find Krista exploring local markets, continuing her quest to
discover Canberra’s best coffee or, when the winter weather sets in, curled up with a good
book.

“Mental health problems don’t define who you are. They are something you experience. You walk in the rain and you feel the rain, but you are not the rain.”
