With experience spanning retail, corporate and creative industries, Josh Cohen brings a well-rounded understanding of human behaviour, workplace pressures and interpersonal dynamics to his work as a counsellor. This diverse background enables him to offer compassionate, insightful and practical counselling grounded in empathy, curiosity and genuine connection.
Josh works with clients experiencing a range of challenges, including anger, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and periods of uncertainty or change. His counselling style is client-centred and solution-focused, meeting each person where they are and taking the time to understand their individual experiences, challenges and goals.
Josh also has a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent clients. Drawing on his own lived experience of neurodiversity, he brings personal insight and an authentic understanding of the strengths, challenges and everyday experiences neurodivergent people may encounter. He recognises the importance of providing a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental environment where clients can feel understood, accepted and comfortable being themselves.
Known for his welcoming, approachable manner and professional integrity, Josh creates a space where clients feel heard, respected and supported throughout their therapeutic journey. With a passion for personal growth and wellbeing, he helps individuals overcome obstacles, build confidence and clarity, recognise their strengths and live with greater authenticity, purpose and fulfilment.
Favourite Music:
As an avid vinyl and music collector, choosing a favourite is never easy. That said, Bruce Springsteen has to take the top spot. There is just something about the storytelling, energy and timeless sound of The Boss that is hard to beat.
Do you have any pets?:
Yes, I have a Labrador called Max, who has more personality than any dog I have ever met. He certainly keeps life entertaining and makes sure there is never a dull moment.
Favourite Quote:
A quote that holds particular meaning for Josh is:
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” – Mark Twain.
For Josh, this quote captures the importance of understanding your life’s journey and discovering what gives it meaning. Finding your purpose is not necessarily one defining moment. It can be an ongoing process of understanding who you are, recognising what matters to you and building a life that reflects your values. This idea is central to Josh’s counselling approach, as he supports clients to reconnect with themselves, explore their sense of purpose and move forward in ways that feel genuine and meaningful.
Favourite counselling modality?:
Solution-focused counselling is one of my favourite modalities. It can help build early momentum, confidence and a sense of progress while we continue working towards longer-term goals. I also adapt this approach to support neurodivergent clients, creating a practical, non-judgemental space where individual strengths, communication styles and lived experiences are understood and respected.

“Mental health problems don’t define who you are. They are something you experience. You walk in the rain and you feel the rain, but you are not the rain.”
